FAQ

What is the level cap in the global version?
Level 45 at launch. The Korean version sits at 50 after its Chapter 1 update; the global release starts on a modified Season 1 build and is expected to catch up over seasons.
How long does it take to reach level 45?
To be calibrated at launch. The September 17–18 Launch Scale Test capped at level 37 and ran only two days, so reliable hour-per-level data for the global build does not exist yet.
Is leveling mostly quests or grinding?
The announced structure is a main-story spine supplemented by dungeons and free-flight exploration across a world roughly 36 times the original game's size.

Leveling in AION 2’s global launch build runs from 1 to a cap of 45 — lower than the Korean version’s 50, because the West starts on a modified Season 1 build. The structure NC has announced is a main-story spine supplemented by dungeons and free-flight exploration, with class advancement early in the journey. What we cannot give you yet is honest hour-per-level data: the September 17–18 Launch Scale Test capped at 37 and ran only two days, so every pacing number in this guide is marked for calibration at launch.

What does the level 45 cap actually mean?

Two things. First, the cap is temporary in the long view: the global version trails the Korean version by roughly a year of content and is expected to catch up in seasons of about three months each — 45 is the ceiling for launch, not forever. Second, it changes how you should spend resources: pre-cap gear is transitional, so heavy investment in anything you will outlevel is wasted. The full version-by-version comparison lives in our global vs. Korea guide.

How is the leveling path structured?

The announced shape of the 1–45 journey:

  • Adventurer opening. Everyone starts as an Adventurer and advances into one of the eight launch classes — treat it as an extended trial before you commit.
  • Main story. The spine of leveling; it gates class advancement and system unlocks in order.
  • Dungeons. NC advertises more than 200 across categories like Nightmare, Sealed Dungeon, Stronghold, Expedition, Sanctuary (weekly boss content), Transcendence (ranked tiers), and Conquest — with a remade Fire Temple returning. Which of these are in the global launch build is to be confirmed; our dungeon list tracks what’s verified.
  • Flight exploration. The world is roughly 36 times the original’s size, all of it flyable, plus underwater exploration — travel itself is a real part of the mid-level experience. See the flight guide.
  • Side systems. Timed Spacetime Rift events and 172 Hidden Cubes reward exploration, and a pool of 300-plus pets and mounts feeds collection systems.

What did the Launch Scale Test show about pacing?

The LST (September 17–18, level cap 37, progress wiped) proved the 1–37 band is playable end-to-end on the global build and drew a 73,761 concurrent peak on Steam within its first six hours. What it did not produce is trustworthy pacing data — two days of play yields anecdotes, not curves, and community reports from the window are scattered.

How do I level efficiently anyway?

Even without verified numbers, the durable rules are:

  1. Main story first. It is the unlock spine — class, systems, and access — so detouring early costs more than it pays.
  2. Fly everywhere. On a map 36 times the original’s, flight is the difference between crossing a region and commuting through it.
  3. Use dungeons as filler, not a grind engine. Dip in when the story outpaces your level — until launch data proves a better loop exists.
  4. Don’t over-enhance leveling gear. In the Korean version, gear enhances to +15 and failures past +10 consume materials; global numbers are to be confirmed, but the habit of not sinking rare materials into transitional gear is safe either way.
  5. Know what free accounts can’t do. Marketplace, the Kina↔Quna Exchange, and player-to-player trades require the $15 Membership — that affects how you gear while leveling, per the economy guide.

Which progression systems run alongside leveling?

Several power systems grow in parallel with XP. The names below are confirmed for the build, but numbers and unlock levels are to be verified at launch:

System What it does
Daevanion Board Character progression board; node costs and layout to be confirmed
Stigma Class modifiers tied to the skill tree — specifics to be confirmed
Arcana Supplemental character progression layer — details to be confirmed
Genus Insight Converts pet collection into character power
Soul Imprinting Gear/character imprinting — details to be confirmed
Manastone Gear augmentation via stones — specifics to be confirmed
Empyrean Trace → Wisdom Stone Earns skill points

The rule while leveling: engage each system as it unlocks, but don’t chase optimizations you can’t verify. Dedicated pages for each system will follow once the global build is live — check the beginner guide if you haven’t picked a class yet.

What happens at level 45?

That’s where the announced endgame opens up: dungeon content spanning solo, 4-player, and 8-player formats, weekly Sanctuary bosses, ranked Transcendence tiers, and the Abyss — cross-server PvPvE where the faction war and its Abyss Points currency live. Rifting brings timed invasion waves (reported at roughly every three hours, lasting about an hour, behind a War Mode opt-in toggle). One caveat: a single report suggests the Abyss may run in limited weekly windows, which conflicts with other sources — treat it as unverified for now.

Start with the dungeon list for PvE and the Abyss guide for PvP. And if you’re still pre-launch, the Founder’s Pack guide covers whether five extra days of leveling are worth paying for.
