AION 2 Global vs Korea: What's Actually Different
Global is a modified Season 1: cap 45 vs 50, 8 classes vs 9, a single $15 membership vs Korea's ~$45 two-tier — every confirmed difference in one place.
Korea and Taiwan have been playing since November 19, 2025. The global build launching October 5 is not the game Korea is playing today — it’s a modified Season 1 with roughly a year of Korean polish folded in. That distinction is the most important thing to understand before launch, because almost every English guide written so far describes the Korean version. This page is the reference for what’s actually different.
What exactly is the global version?
NC’s own framing: global launches as a modified Season 1. That means the content structure, level cap, and class roster of Korea’s first season — but rebuilt with the quality-of-life fixes, balance passes, and system changes Korea accumulated over its first year. Merv Lee Kwai has described the gap as “about a year’s worth of content” between the two builds.
So global players get a launch that is simultaneously behind Korea (less content, lower cap, fewer classes) and ahead of where Korea’s own launch was (better balance, better QoL, a redesigned monetization model).
What are the headline differences?
| Global (Oct 5) | Korea / Taiwan | |
|---|---|---|
| Level cap at launch | 45 | 50 (raised with Chapter 1) |
| Launch classes | 8 | 9 — Brawler added mid-2026 |
| Membership | Single tier, $15/mo | Two tiers, ~$40–50/mo equivalent |
| Platforms | PC only — Steam + PURPLE | PC (PURPLE) + iOS + Android |
| Content position | Modified Season 1 | Currently Season 3 |
The three rows that change how you play: the cap of 45 means leveling routes written for Korea’s 50 don’t map cleanly; no Brawler means any class guide or tier list listing nine classes is describing a different build; and the single $15 membership makes the global economy significantly cheaper to enter — see the membership breakdown for what it unlocks.
Which Korean changes does the global build inherit?
Korea’s version history is effectively a preview of global’s roadmap — and, more usefully, global gets the fixes without living through the breakage. Korea’s timeline so far:
| Date | What happened |
|---|---|
| Nov 19, 2025 | KR/TW launch; day-one monetization controversy, emergency apology |
| Jan 7, 2026 | 2026 roadmap published |
| Mar 25, 2026 | Major patch: all-class rework, new Stigmas, Chaotic Abyss, Kina (Bound), PvP/PvE damage separation |
| Apr 22, 2026 | New Expedition dungeon + balance pass |
| Mid-2026 | Chapter 1 — Brawler added, cap raised to 50 |
| Now | Season 3 live |
The March 25 patch is the big inheritance: global launches with the class rework and the PvP/PvE damage split already in place — changes Korea waited four months for. Economic changes from that patch lineage, like Kina (Bound), are expected but unconfirmed — NC has not published an exact patch manifest for the global build. Chaotic Abyss (cross-faction West/East mixed battles) is likewise part of that lineage; how much of it is in global’s launch-day Abyss is something we’ll verify on live servers.
For honesty’s sake, one neutral note on that first row: Korea’s launch bundled stat-affecting items into cash shop packs against pre-launch commitments, prompting an apology broadcast and a course correction. Global’s separately-announced monetization — cosmetic-only shop, single membership tier — is downstream of that incident.
How fast will global catch up?
Korea runs roughly one season every three months, and global is expected to follow that cadence while trailing about a year of content. The expected shape: global Season 1 now, then quarterly updates pulling in Korea’s Season 2/3/Chapter 1 material — including Brawler, which NC has indicated will lag Korea by six months or more.
Practical upshot: the global dungeon list at launch won’t match Korea’s 200+ dungeon catalogue, and class balance will diverge until the builds converge.
Why can’t you just use existing English guides?
Because nearly all of them were written from the Korean or Taiwanese build — including most tier lists, leveling routes, and economy guides currently ranking in search. Specific traps to watch for:
- Cap-50 routes that assume zones and unlocks global won’t have at launch
- Nine-class tier lists ranking Brawler, which doesn’t exist here yet
- Two-tier membership math pricing the subscription at ~$45 — that’s the Korean model
- Season 3 numbers presented as launch facts — global is a modified Season 1
- Mobile UI screenshots and mobile-specific mechanics — global has no mobile client

That’s also this site’s operating pledge: every number we publish is either verified on the global build or explicitly labeled with its Korean version and date. When a guide here says “Korea, Season 3,” it means directional preview, not launch truth — and when it says nothing, it means we verified it on global.
Frequently asked questions
Is the global version a year-old game?
In content terms, partly — it’s built on Season 1. But it inherits a year of Korean balance and QoL work, so it plays closer to a mature build than Korea’s own launch did. “Behind on content, ahead on polish” is the accurate summary.
When does global get Brawler and the level 50 cap?
Not announced. Brawler arrived in Korea’s Chapter 1 update mid-2026 alongside the cap raise to 50, and NC has suggested global lags by six months or more on that content line. We’ll update when a global roadmap is published.
Can I transfer or link a Korean account?
There’s no indication of cross-region accounts — the two versions differ enough in structure (platforms, monetization, content) that they’re effectively separate services.
Which version's numbers does this site use?
Global, always. Korean figures appear only as labeled previews. The release date FAQ and every systems page on this site are written against the October 5 global build.
