AION 2 Class Tier List for the Global Launch
AION 2 tier list — separate rankings for dungeon PvE, solo leveling, and Abyss PvP, built on Launch Scale Test impressions and Korean Season 3 trends.
FAQ
What is the best class in AION 2?
Is Spiritmaster the same class as Elementalist?
Why is Brawler not on this tier list?
Will these rankings change after launch?
Every “best class” list published before the global launch of AION 2 is working from incomplete information — including this one. Rather than pretend otherwise, we do three things differently: we rank classes per scenario (dungeons, solo leveling, and Abyss PvP get separate lists, because a single ranking serves none of them), we label the confidence behind every tier, and we commit to re-ranking against the live global build. Verified September 20, 2026.
How was this tier list built?
Three inputs, in order of reliability:
- Official role structure — high confidence. One true tank (Templar), one main healer (Cleric), one buff support (Chanter), five damage dealers. Scarcity is a fact, not a prediction.
- Launch Scale Test impressions — medium confidence. Real hands-on time on the global build, but capped at level 37 over two days; endgame behavior is untested.
- Korean Season 3 meta — low confidence, direction only. A year of Korean patches tells us which archetypes NC favors, but the global build’s tuning is different. What we deliberately excluded: existing pre-launch tier lists, which contradict each other, and any Korean damage figures presented as global values.
What is the dungeon PvE tier list?
Group content rewards what groups lack — and groups always lack tanks and healers. Damage rankings, by contrast, hinge on tuning numbers that simply do not exist publicly for the global build yet.
| Tier | Classes | Reasoning | Confidence |
|---|---|---|---|
| S | Cleric · Templar | The only main healer and the only true tank — every dungeon party needs both, and supply never meets demand. Guaranteed invites regardless of balance patches. | High — structural |
| A | Chanter | Party-wide buffs multiply everyone else’s damage; a second support slot is always welcome. | Medium |
| B | Assassin · Gladiator · Ranger · Sorcerer · Spiritmaster | All viable damage dealers — deliberately unranked. Ordering them now would be guesswork; every pre-launch list we reviewed orders them differently. | Low — pending live testing |
Watch items for launch week: whether Sorcerer’s burst offsets its fragility, how much melee uptime bosses allow Assassin and Gladiator, whether Ranger’s ranged safety converts into damage uptime, and how Spiritmaster pets scale toward the level-45 cap. We’ll update this list once real numbers exist — see the dungeon list for the content these classes will face.
What is the solo leveling tier list?
Solo play rewards a different thing: self-sufficiency. Kill speed matters, but so does not dying between quest objectives.
| Tier | Classes | Reasoning | Confidence |
|---|---|---|---|
| S | Gladiator · Ranger | Durability plus cleave for the frontliner; mobility and kiting for the archer — the two archetypes that solo most comfortably in this combat style. | Medium |
| A | Spiritmaster · Sorcerer · Assassin | A pet that tanks for you, burst that ends fights before contact, and the fastest single-target kills — each pays a fragility or micromanagement tax. | Medium-Low |
| B | Cleric · Chanter · Templar | Nearly unkillable, but slower kill speed. They trade pace for safety and come into their own in groups. | Medium |
The road to 45 is covered step by step in the leveling guide — including where the support classes’ slower pace stops mattering.
What is the Abyss PvP tier list?
The Abyss is cross-server PvPvE where mass fights decide outcomes, and with flight woven into combat, ranged uptime carries extra weight. This is the least settled list on the page — global-version Abyss specifics are still unconfirmed.
| Tier | Classes | Reasoning | Confidence |
|---|---|---|---|
| S | Templar · Cleric · Ranger | Mass engagements are won by the frontline holding and the heals landing; ranged pressure matters when fights go airborne. | Low-Medium |
| A | Sorcerer · Chanter · Gladiator | Burst windows, group-wide buffs, and dive capability — every warband wants all three. | Low |
| B | Assassin · Spiritmaster | Strong small-scale and pick-off kits; their value in mass fights is the least proven thing on this page. | Low |
Mechanics, Rifting, and Abyss Points are covered in the Abyss guide — re-check this list after the first real Abyss weekends, because that’s when these rankings stop being theory.
Which class is best for you?
- Want the shortest path to party invites? Cleric or Templar, and it isn’t close — one healer class and one tank class means permanent scarcity.
- Want to support without main-heal pressure? Chanter — buffs stay valuable even when your own numbers are modest.
- Want to solo efficiently? Gladiator or Ranger first; Spiritmaster if you enjoy pet play.
- Here for PvP? Ranger, Templar, or Cleric for warband play; Assassin if you’d rather hunt stragglers than hold a line.
- Want the lowest-regret pick? Choose the role you enjoy, not the tier. Damage rankings will shuffle with every balance patch; the demand for tanks and healers will not.
Still deciding between the eight? The all classes overview covers each one’s role, weapon, and playstyle in detail.
When does this list get re-ranked?
Real testing starts with Founder’s Pack early access on September 30 and the October 5 launch — check the release date guide for the exact timeline. Expect the first re-rank within the opening weeks, and expect movement: the global build follows the Korean version’s roughly three-month season cadence, so tier lists rot fast. We date-stamp every revision via the lastModified field at the top of this page. For why global rankings can’t just copy the Korean meta, see global vs Korea: what’s different.
