AION 2 Founder's Pack: Worth It?
All three tiers ($24.99–$99.99) share the same Sep 30 early access and 30 days of Membership — here's who should buy which, and who should wait for Oct 5.
The Founder’s Pack is the only paid thing standing between you and the September 30 early access — and the single most important fact about it is that you don’t need it to play. The game is free-to-play at the October 5 launch; the pack buys a head start, subscription time, and cosmetics plus in-game extras — nothing beyond that. Here’s the honest breakdown of what each tier gets you and who each one is actually for.
What do the three tiers include?
| Standard — $24.99 | Deluxe — $49.99 | Ultimate — $99.99 | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Early access (Sep 30 – Oct 4) | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| 30 days of Membership | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Cosmetics + in-game extras | Base bundle | Larger bundle | Largest bundle |
The thing worth pausing on: the early access window is identical across all three tiers. A $24.99 Standard pack gets you into the game on September 30 exactly like the $99.99 Ultimate does — the extra money buys more cosmetic items and extras, not more days. The exact per-tier contents should be confirmed on the official listing before you buy, since bundle lineups can shift between announcement and sale.

Do you need a pack to play at all?
No — and this deserves its own section because pre-launch coverage blurs it constantly. If you buy nothing, you start playing on October 5 for free. The Founder’s Pack gates only the September 30 – October 4 early access window. There is no founder-only content, no pack-exclusive class, no permanent advantage on the table.
What the pack actually is: a bundle of five days of early access + one month of the $15 membership + cosmetics and in-game extras. If you were already planning to subscribe for the Marketplace and trading unlocks, the Standard tier is effectively “$10 for five early days plus cosmetics” once you subtract the membership value.
What does the five-day head start actually buy?
Five days in an MMO launch is not nothing:
- Leveling tempo. With a level cap of 45 at launch, five days is enough for a committed player to reach cap — or get close — before the general population logs in.
- Economy position. Members can list on the Marketplace from day one. Early Kina, early crafted goods, and early materials listings compound in a fresh economy where everyone is buying.
- Learning in peace. Class mechanics, flight controls, and the Daevanion/Stigma systems are easier to learn without launch-day queues and contested quest zones.
What it does not buy: anything permanent. Everyone who joins October 5 catches up to the same cap eventually, and the early economic edge fades as the market fills. The head start is real but perishable.
Who should buy which tier?
The day-one grinder. Buy Standard ($24.99). You were going to play at launch anyway, the membership unlocks the economy you plan to live in, and the five days are pure profit. Upgrade to Deluxe or Ultimate only if the specific cosmetics appeal to you — the competitive value of the pack caps out at $24.99.
The regular player. Buy Standard or skip. If you’ll play daily and care about trading, the pack’s membership month makes the math friendly. If you’re a weekend player who’ll reach cap in three weeks regardless, five extra days in September changes little — October 5 is free.
The wait-and-see. Skip it entirely. That’s the luxury of a genuinely free launch: you lose nothing by letting the early access crowd stress-test servers, the economy, and the cash shop for five days. If launch week goes well, the game will still be there — and the beginner guide will still get you caught up.
Frequently asked questions
Is the Founder's Pack required to play AION 2?
No. The game is free-to-play from October 5 on Steam and PURPLE. The pack only adds the September 30 – October 4 early access, 30 days of Membership, and cosmetics plus in-game extras.
Does a higher tier give earlier access?
No — all three tiers share the same September 30 start date and the same five-day window. Higher tiers only add more cosmetic content.
Can I buy the pack after early access starts?
The early-access window is fixed no matter when you buy — purchasing on October 2 still ends your head start on October 4. The later you buy, the less the early access component is worth.
What happens to my early access progress at launch?
Early access is live service, not a test — progression carries into launch. (Contrast with the September 17–18 Launch Scale Test, which was capped at 37 and fully wiped; see the release date FAQ.)
